Product (shade: Dear Lily)
I love both Pretty Betty and Sweet Missy. So much so to the point that I would not use them from fear of getting tired of it or running out. I would cycle between the two of them but there are times when I don't want to use either one. I felt that introducing a third choice would fix this problem.
I've had my eye on terracotta shades for a while now. For a long time I was searching for a warmer red since I didn't love Sweet Missy. But I eventually adjusted to liking it and realized that having two shades of red might cause more decision problems than I think.
I do want to keep a minimal selection to choose from but I don't want to be limited. A tip I read from r/MakeupRehab is to allow yourself a blush of each color family. I figured I have a pink (Pretty Betty, warm pink) and a bold red (Sweet Missy, definitely a strawberry color).
Orange is actually another shade that piqued my interest. I was looking over Squad Co.'s Petal Play blushes since they have quite a few bright orangey ones, ranging from dandelion to carrot to nude brown. I was interested, but I decided that I don't really want a bright orange since I just couldn't imagine it looking good on me. I thought it would be a gimmicky color on me, or would make me look like I have jaundice, and the like. Squad Co.'s packaging and branding also was just not that pretty (although they appear to be rebranding right now).
I did not need to look far beyond the trusted Chu Chu Beauty Heart Blush Duos. I'll be frank and admit that the packaging held that much charm. I was eager to have three in my collection and Dear Lily was the next target.
It's a beautiful duo. I don't know why I just ignored it when looking into these Heart Blush Duos. Dear is actually a muted red and Lily, an orange brown.
I mainly thought that Lily would overpower the duo and the duo would appear just a regular orange brown that I thought would make me look old. But now that I've tried it, I really like it, and it wasn't as dark and overpowering as I thought. The overall look white Dear and Lily gradiented on my cheekbones gives a very subtle red flush that deepens to a bronze. It is a nude shade on me. Had I known better, I would have just skipped Sweet Missy and go straight for Dear Lily, but of course I'm glad I didn't since I do love Sweet Missy. I'm really happy with Dear Lily and I declare now that this will be the last blush that I'm ever buying.
