Detail Cosmetics Glass Stain Hydrating Serum Stain (shade: Naked)
original entry – cr: 29 June 2024I was not satisfied with my matte lip color. I wanted something glossy. It's nice I found Detail's Glass Stain which is probably the most affordable legit lip gloss-stain on the shopping site I use.
It has a high coverage gloss upon fresh application and it looks really pretty. The gloss itself doesn't hold long but it leaves a sheer stain. The shine however persists even after the gloss which I like. The consistency is a little watery and it has a slight cooling effect on the lips.
It's lightweight, but for me, it feels a bit drying especially in the inner lip parts. It also stains unevenly. The glossy high coverage finish barely lasts an hour. The stain on the other hand lasts up to four hours. Eating or drinking will ruin the stain however.
When doing research, I found a couple reviews saying the lip product stinks. But when I received it, it smelled really nice like candy. Two months later, I found that its sweet candy smell started to smell more like chemical margarine. I sniffed it too much one time which gave me a headache. This scared me since I didn't want it to go to waste. I would not have saved it from frequent in hopes of preserving it for special occasions had I known that it would eventually start to stink.
new! updated entry – cr: 02 September 2024I'm really close to panning this product. I can barely get any on the applicator by dipping normally; I'd always need to screw back the cap on to reach the last bits onto the tip. Somehow I don't want to run out of this product. I have a huge love-hate relationship with it.
First, I love the color. It's a really soft brown with a hint of red in it. I'm not a huge fan of glossy finishes for daily use, but I love pairing this with my more "glam" looks, like when going to a party or hanging out.
Sadly like all glosses, it just doesn't last that long. It's understandable that glosses are the least long-wearing lip products but that aspect sort of puts weight on my mind, having to reapply every now and then. There would be those awkward middle moments when the gloss is still there yet it's sheerer than it was after fresh application, so I have to decide whether I want to use more of the product for a retouch or be fine with it not looking as good as I want it to be. And that too, liquid lipsticks are just less product per coin.
I strongly feel like I won't be repurchasing this Glass Stain when I run out of it. I'd like to invest more in lipsticks in bullet form.
new! updated entry – cr: 21 September 2024I've taken out the stopper so I could scoop out the last bits. All I could get are sheer applications of the gloss. It's practically empty now. I liked the shade, and I'm trying to look which of the Detail Satin Luxe Butter Tints have a similar color, but I might just give it up and put it to rest (or not).
